RIVERSIDE, NJ – Riverside Township held its second annual “Day of Progress,” a play on words for the town’s historic name. Despite the early fall chill, a memorable time was had by all who attended.

Open to the public, the Township Committee sponsored event featured an array of exhibitions hosted by local community members, including the Police Department, the new Tapestry Community Center and several craft vendors. Food trucks lined the streets to ensure that event patrons were well-nourished, and there was no shortage of rides available for youth attendees to enjoy. In its commitment to community outreach, The Mill at Riverside, owned by Kokes Properties, made a donation to help relieve some of the cost burden associated with the event.

Yesenia Borrero, The Mill’s Community Manager, volunteered to assist the event organizers. “We love being a part of the Riverside community,” stated Borrero on behalf of the company, “I’m really proud to have participated in today’s event. Fostering meaningful relationships within the Riverside community is incredibly important and fulfilling to all of us at Kokes Properties. We pride ourselves on being responsible corporate citizens, and we look forward to engaging with other stakeholders in town to make this event a staple of Riverside tradition for many years to come!”

Michelle Weaver, Riverside Township Committee Member and the primary event planner, stated, “We are so pleased with the overall success of Community Day. With the pandemic canceling public events, our goal was to bring big town events to our small town that we can proudly invite other local families to experience. The ultimate goal was to bring the community together for family fun, provide local resources and support small businesses. The day provided a memorable experience for our residents as well as visitors from the surrounding areas to see our growing downtown and everything Riverside has to offer.” Weaver continued, “We surpassed our expected attendance, and I cannot express how grateful I am to the several volunteers that helped make this day a success. I hope to see it continue and grow better year after year.”
